O ne person’s comfort zone with body modifications will end with a pierced earlobe, while someone else’s will give the world the opinion that they are staring at el Diablo himself.
Just because you don’t approve doesn’t make it wrong. – Unknown.
I first became interested in body modification at a very early age and after attempting to pierce my own navel when I was fifteen years old (something which didn’t work out so well) my ever understanding and very wise mom took me to a professional to have both my naval re-pierced, and also receive my first tattoo, performed correctly. From that moment on I was hooked on the magic of being able to transform ones body into what they want to through the use of body modification. However, growing up within the borders of Colorado Springs my whole life, a place where information on body modification and transformation is not something easily accessible or obtained, I knew that there had to be a place for people like me, all I had to do is find it or create it.
The skills which started me on my way to becoming who I am today integrated a some times un-recommended, incredibly long and very arduous road in which no one should try to follow. Originally, it included many failed attempts on myself and a few trusting friends, but it was also right around then that I decided it was time to learn the right way. I was finally given the basic knowledge and understanding of modifying the human body through a traditional apprenticeship, something for which I will always be eternally grateful, however the rest of my capabilities and knowledge to date has come through many hours of research on the proper techniques of how to perform safe and sterile procedures, attending furthering educational classes and seminars, and artistically experimenting on myself and those very trusting friends. I will never stop learning. Each and every day is a chance to discover something new, see something in a new way, or be give the opportunity to refine the skills that I already posses.
I once read a study that said almost 60% of the world’s population is modified in some way, whether it is a tattoo on the ankle, nostril piercing, full body suit or implants. The world is beginning to realize that no matter where you are at on your personal path of life, you have the ability to transform the way you are perceived on the outside and feel on the inside. With that in mind, I would like to wrap this up by stating that my life long professional goals are to be able to help people modify their bodies into their new reality, as well as, show them another way to not only look at themselves, but others as well, and in conclusion say how grateful I am to Pikes Peak Tattoo & Piercing for giving me this opportunity and helping me in achieving my goals and dreams.
