First and foremost I would like to take this opportunity to Thank those individuals (you know who you are) that have believed/supported me along this adventure. With that being said, I am an aftermarket product of the central part of New York State, hailing from a little town called, Cortland. In school, my focus was always centralized around whatever Art class or project I could get into at the time (a trait that I still possess to this day). After graduating High School in ’93, I joined the United States Army in which I proudly served a five year tour as a M1A1 tank crew member (1/10 Cav, Buffalo Soldier & 2/14 Armor). My tour of duty found me in many new States and Countries, including places I never dreamed I’d see, such as beautiful Colorado, Germany, Macedonia, and Greece just to name a few. Parting from the military as a Sergeant in Germany I decided to move back to Colorado Springs. Shortly after my departure from the military I became good friends with Brian Brooks, an artist at Pikes Peak Tattoo, who did my first tattoo and later became my teacher and mentor in the tattooing industry.
After a year plus long hard vigorous well taught apprenticeship at Top Notch Tattoo in Colorado Springs by both the owner/artist Jonboy and fellow artist Brian (mentioned above) I was at the ability to go to the next step; working as a full time artist. This was in or around August-September of 2003. Two years later I won my first award at the annual Cripple Creek Tattoo Competition, 3rd place in the Patriotic category with a Cross Anchor memorial piece. Since then I have won a various assortment of awards in a variety of categories in state-wide Tattoo Competitions, with my greatest accomplishment being a 1st place and Best of Show at the 12th annual High Altitude Tattoo Competition in 2007 for the custom tribal sleeve which is seen on my current business card.
From 2007 to 2008 I took the opportunity to expand my knowledge base and move to Cleveland, Ohio to work at Finest Lines Tattoo. It was a very educational experience in many ways, both artistically and in a business sense, but the beauty of Colorado kept calling me back. Becoming a part of the Pikes Peak family has definitely completed a circle in my life, because as I have stated before, not only was it where I received my first tattoo, it’s the understanding that I have become a continuing part of the great legacy of artists who have called Pikes Peak Tattoo home; well, it just doesn’t get much better than that.
I do hope that the individuals who take the time to look at the artwork done by the Pikes Peak crew like and enjoy the artwork that they see. Please always feel free to ask your artist’s questions when it comes to your tattoo, that’s why we are here. Thank you for taking the time to look through the galleries and please enjoy everyone’s portfolios.
